The Only 6 White Paint Colors You’ll Ever Need for Interior Walls

The sheetrock is complete, so now it’s time to pick a paint color for our interior walls. If you’ve ever been to the paint section at any store, you know the choices can be overwhelming. Not only that, but paint looks different in every space depending on lighting. Finding the right white paint color doesn’t have to overstimulate you. I’ve done the hard work for you.

Swatching your walls is the perfect way to find your perfect shade! We started our journey by heading to Lowe’s and picking up way too many white paint chips. I brought those back to our space and paired them with our cabinet color, and flooring samples so I could see how the shades coordinate together. Our kitchen and living room is open concept, so I need something that would complement, not compete with, our cabinet color.

Once I had all of the paint chips arranged, I started the process of elimination. I began removing shades that had a harsh contrast, and shades that had obvious yellow or grey undertones. I also moved this set up from room to room to see how the colors reacted to different amounts of natural light.

Even with so many options, it was pretty easy to eliminate what didn’t work for our space. Once we had it narrowed to our favorites, I ordered paint samples so we could swatch the colors on our walls. What I loved about ordering samples from Lowe’s is that they have in store or curb side pickup! I ordered my samples online, then walked it and they were waiting for me. It made the process easy peasy.

I swatched 6 colors + our trim color, which is Accessible Beige. Our plan is to paint our walls a shade of white, and our interior doors Accessible Beige for a fun contrast element. Our 6 top white paint colors are from left to right: Westhighland White, Bohemian Lace, Pearly White, Swiss Coffee, Green Villa, Alabaster. I swatched these samples in three different rooms, then my husband and I narrowed it down to our two favorites, Pearly White and Alabaster.

I took those two colors and did larger swatches on several walls throughout the house. Tell me in the comments, which color would you choose? Come back to see what color we picked, and the reveal of our painted walls!
